FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Eligibility

  • Visit the NEDCC Ready or Not page, or contact the NEDCC by email CAready@nedcc.org or by phone at 855-501-3020.

  • Yes! Applicants with emergency readiness assessments over 5 years old, such as previous free assessments through the California Preservation Program, are still valid. However, applicants should include supporting documentation to affirm that the recommendations in older assessments remain operative. If applicable, this documentation should also demonstrate the steps your organization has taken to address past recommendations.

  • You can still apply! We suggest teaming up with a partner who DOES qualify. This partner would be the applicant and they should indicate that they are serving as an administrator for your organization or collection.

  • Please contact us and we’ll let you know! If you can support this need with documentation, such as an emergency preparedness evaluation, we may be able to fund you.

Project Activities

  • Unfortunately, we cannot fund digitization through this program. Luckily, there are great options for you! Please visit our friends at California Revealed to apply for Digitization & Preservation Assistance.

  • Our colleagues at Conserv have provided us with information on environmental monitoring equipment, one of our pre-arranged goods and services offered. Please read Conserv’s Environmental Monitoring Equipment & Preventive Conservation Training slides (PDF) or watch a 6-minute explainer video for more information.

  • For goods and services offered by Myriad, specified in the guidelines and application, the purchase transaction will be handled by Myriad. In all other cases, the purchase transactions will be made by the grantee, using the grant funds received. If the total project cost exceeds $15,000, anything over that would have to be paid for through other revenue sources.

  • Disaster planning consultants provided through Myriad will conduct remote consultations using observations from a previous Ready or Not (or other qualified evaluator) on-site assessment. Disaster planning consultants not provided by Myriad may provide on-site or remote consultations depending on your needs.

  • Organizations that have received a recommendation to develop a disaster preparedness plan are strongly urged to include this item in their request. Many consultants can provide this service, and you can locate qualified consultants via the SAA Directory of Archival Consultants and the AIC Find a Professional tool.

  • Our grant guideIines stipulate that all project activities must be complete by December 31st, 2024. However, project activities might look different depending on your requests. If you request funding to purchase supplies for rehousing, the purchase of those supplies is the project activity (not the rehousing itself), and therefore the only action that would need to be accomplished before Dec. 31st.
